Original blue cloth with gilt and embossed design and title to front board and spine. 4 full page illustrations including a frontispiece with tissue guard. Sunning to the spine. Rubbing with some splitting to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine and the corners. Some soiling to the boards. Book plate to the front paste down. Ink name inscription to the front end paper. Not sure if this book is issed with a half title page - if so it is missing. There is some splitting along the front hinge. The front board remains attached, although slightly tender. A good or very good, copy of this antiquarian book.

Minor pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper. Boards have heavy shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners and crushing, fraying and tearing to spine ends and edges. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is dulled. Book has forward lean.

All of the pages are intact and the cover is intact and the spine may show signs of wear. The book may have minor markings which are not specifically mentioned. A good condition hardback with no dust jacket. Boards to the front and back are in good condition with minor signs of staining. The spine has some signs of fading with the black boards appearing brown. Gilt lettering to the spine is still in good condition with no signs of damage. Slight loosening to the binding with the front board starting to come away from the main textblock, but still remains attached to the textblock. Endpapers are lightly stained with foxing to the textblock and endpapers, with front endpapers starting to pull away from the binding. Slight tanning to the main body of text. Overall this is a good condition book with the main body of text in good clean condition.

Front free end paper has inscription with 1902 date . First few pages are foxed and rest of book is slightly browned.All fore edges are gilt . A really lovely volume { see photographs} .
