Octavo in brown cloth. Binding remains quite tight, covers a bit worn and scuffed. Gold spine lettering is bright, some edgewear. Textblock is quite clean. Original bookstore label on front pastedown (from A. Setliff Booksellers in Nashville, TN) ow ner's name in pencil on 2nd endpaper. 3rd page has notation from previous owner about where and when this copy was found. Some light foxing but much less than would be expected. Remarkable copy.

VOLUME I: i-xlviii, 49-404 pages; spine cloth detached from backstrip with shallow loss at ends; minimal play to joints but binding remains firm; board corners worn. VOLUME II: 379, [4] pages; 2cm deep chip at spine head with some loss of title lettering; past repair to tear descending 10cm along front joint; shallow loss at spine heel; board corners worn; joints and binding firm; four pages of publisher's advertisements at rear. Mild soiling to endpapers of both volumes but interior leaves are clean; still a good set albeit repairs needed to aforementioned spine faults.
