Full 5 band leather with gilt decoration on spines and edges bright. Rubbed corners, edges, and bands with a few scuffs on boards. Volume II is slightly more worn with chips on head of spine, two small holes in rear joint leather, and dent on the rear top edge. Binding tight. All edges red with marbled endpapers. Free endpapers toned and foxed. Foxing on a few text pages. Title pages are printed in red and black, with a seal stamp in German on both. Both folding maps present. Map in Volume I has a glue repair and soil spots, with Volume II map in very good condition. 360 pages and 400 pages, with last page of Volume II misprinted as 360. Supposedly an account of Capitan Robert Lade's voyages all over the world, translated from the English. Lade was a fictitious character and the book is ascribed to French author Abbe Prevost, possibly drawing material from several legitimate sources. From Howes L 11: "Contains a long account of affairs in the infant colony of Georgia, probably translated from some English work." ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 760 pp.
