Voici comment Ernest Lajeunesse se présentait dans une lettre à Paul HERVIEU : "La Jeunesse (Ernest-Léon). Né à Paris (Xe) le 23 juin 1874. Licencié ès Lettres (Nancy) le 13 juillet 1894. Officier de l'instruction publique (1er janvier 1904). Collaborateur à La Cocarde (1894), La Revue Bleue, La Revue blanche (1895 etc.), Le Journal, depuis 1896, Gil-Blas (1903-1904), Zeit, Cri de Paris, Intransigeant (1909), nombreuses préfaces, conférences à l'Odéon, critique d'art." Il collabore aussi à L'Assiette au beurre. Secrétaire d'Octave MIRBEAU, il fréquente de nombreuses personnalités, souvent reprouvées, ZOLA, RICHEPIN, etc. Sa laideur prodigieuse et son esprit acéré lui assurent à la fois célébrité et ennemis. Ses dessins sont très rares : son modèle, Eugène LINTHILAC (1854-1920), est un sénateur de la IIIe République. Professeur éminent, journaliste, membre influent de l'Ecole auvergnate, c'est un dreyfusard notoire il rejoint en cela Ernest Lajeunesse, une des cibles favorite des antisémites. Manquent pp. 11-34, usures et légère insolation à la couverture. Piqûres internes, coiffes abîmées. Livre.
