The importance of this work, originating in a now legendary 1965 philosophy of science colloquium, is hard to overstate - essentially it launched the philosophy of science revolution of the late 20th century triggered by Kuhn's 'Structure of Scientific Revolutions', with a clutch of the most important figures in the field, young (Feyerabend, Lakatos) and old (Popper, Toulmin) offering their critiques and qualifications of Kuhn's position, with Kuhn gamely opening and closing the proceedings.
