Il s'agit d'une satire au sujet de la fameuse prédiction de Jurieu et des espérances chimériques qu'elle avait excitées chez nombre de Réformés dans le contexte de l'immédiat après-révocation. Jurieu avait cru en effet découvrir dans l'Apocalypse que les persécutions cesseraient en 1689 et que les Protestants pourraient retourner en France.
