In very good dark brown cloth boards, gilt decorated spine with gilt titles. The boards are tight, straight and unmarked and excellent for age (early 1900s). Small tear to side of spine on front tail end; spine ends a little bumped. Orange patterned end papers; the free end papers are tanned. Name of previous owner with 1911 on front paste down; 'University of Manchester' on front free end paper. Dark tint to top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are age-toned. The text block is in very good condition, with firm, flat and clean pages. Appears to be not annotated. Without jacket. 0.

Arms and motto of Wolverhampton School on front panel. All edges marbled. Gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. 8vo. Leather is a little shelf worn, gently rounded on corners, sunned over spine with minor loss around head. Prize presentation plate on the front paste down indicating that the volume was awarded in 1883 by the headmaster of Wolverhampton School. A little spotting on first and last few pages else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A particularly handsome binding on this classic work, albeit bearing the patina of age and use.
