I am pleased to present a small hard cover book of this classic work, still in very good condition, titled: Cushing s Manual, or the Manual of Parliamentary Practice Rules of Proceeding and Debate in Deliberative Assemblies, by Luther S. Cushing (Revised to date by John James Ingalls, President of the United States Senate, 1887-1891). It also includes an Appendix with a copy of the Constitution of the United States. I have seen and sold this book in the past but finally focused on the Editor s Preface which tells us more about Cushing, to wit: Luther Stearns Cushing was born June 22, 1803, in Lunenburg, Mass, and died in Boston, on his birthday, 1856. He was clerk of the house of representatives of Massachusetts in 1832, judge of the court of common pleas in 1844, and reporter to the supreme court in 1848He was a learned and discriminating jurist but his chief claim to distinction rests upon his studies of parliamentary law There is more but I test your patience. This small hard cover book (3 ¾ x 5 ¾ inches, 244 pages) was published by A.L. Burt Company of New York, copyright 1895. It is bound in red cloth with gilt titles on cover and spine. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The red hard covers are generally clean and presentable and the gilt titles, although small, are still fully legible. There has been some minor bumping to the corners and spine tips. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are clean and bright throughout, completely devoid of toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
