The author's own recollections of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, a major uprising in India in 1857 and 1858 against the rule of the British East India Company, which functioned as a sovereign power on behalf of the British Crown. Beginning in the form of a mutiny of sepoys of the company's army in the garrison town of Meerut, it erupted into civilian rebellion. Written by Colonel A. R. D. Mackenzie, a Scottish army officer in the British East India Company. Bound in half red crushed morocco with red cloth boards. Externally, sound with rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards. Minor fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with age toning to the endpapers. Very Good. book.
