First Folio Society edition hard back binding in publisher's original blue and pink and silver star cloth covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine. 8vo. 9'' x 6''. An account of the career at court of Jeanne Becu du Barry (1747-93), official mistress of Louis XV from 1768-74. She went to the guillotine in 1793. By the writer Matieu-Francois Pidanzat de Mairobert (1727-78) and edited by the historian, Eveline Criickshanks (1926-2021). Illustrated by the Scottish watercolour artist, William Russell Flint (1880-1969). Text based on English versions (from 1777) of the Anecdotes sur la Comtesse du Barry, first published in London in 1776.
