Presumed first edition (no direct statement but with matching dates upon title and copyright pages) SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. 177 pages. Hardcover: H 23.25cm x L 15.5cm. No dust jacket. Red cloth rubbed with slight soiling, mild color fading/sunning to spine with slender light stain near heel, spine's gilt lettering dulled but still easily legible, front board's gilt lettering still bright. Some toning to edge; toning and foxing to endpapers with front endpapers more so due to newspaper clipping regarding author taped to front pastedown. Author's four-line ink inscription upon the front free endpaper: "With all good wishes, | William D. McBee. | 915 East Drive, | Oklahoma City 5, Okla." Some foxing on several initial and rear leaves but interior pages overall remain quite clean. Binding is firm. A very good- copy. Author William D. McBee, the speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1923-1924, reviews his perspective of the events leading to the impeachment and removal from office of Governor John C. Walton (in office January 9, 1923 to November 19, 1923) whose polices and legislative efforts met with initial success but who fell afoul of the Legislature while trying to placate both progressive and conservative factions when attempting to fighting Ku Klux Klan political influence by declaration of martial law and the constitutionally illegal suspension of the writ of habeas corpus.
