Etat : Fine. "This unique map was designed by Milas Hinshaw to accompany the "Queho's Secret Hideout" episode of the syndicated American television series Treasure. Produced by Bill Burrud in 1958, each documentary-style adventure covered a ghost town, buried treasure, shipwreck, or other topics that blurred the line between fact and fiction. The image shows the route (with accompanying directional information) to Queho's Cave in El Dorado Canyon, Nevada - about 40 miles southeast of Las Vegas. According to a note in the inset, "several of Queho's caves have been discovered in this rugged area. Undoubtedly there are more - perhaps containing his gold!" The 'legend' refers a Native American renegade known as Queho (Key-Ho) whose outlaw-like exploits earned him the moniker 'The Mad Indian' or 'Nevada's First Mass Murderer.' While evading several posses in the mountainous terrain (despite his distinctive tracks - allegedly the result of a clubfoot), Queho was purported to have killed several men and at least one woman to rob them of supplies. His mummified body, the origin of the title, was discovered in a cave in 1940 after evading authorities for over two decades. His corpse was then displayed for profit by the Las Vegas Elks Lodge before being discarded ignominiously into the dump, probably to avoid legal complications, in 1962.
