This book is a sequel to RING OF BRIGHT WATER. It, too, concerns the interactions of otters and humans. Gavin Maxwell (1914-69), was a Scottish naturalist, traveller and author, best known for his work with otters. He wrote the classic 'Ring of Bright Water' about how he brought an otter back from Iraq and raised it in Scotland. Ring of Bright Water sold more than a million copies and was made into a movie starring Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna in 1969. 'Ring of Bright Water' chronicles Gavin Maxwell's first ten years with the otters and touched the hearts of readers the world over, brilliantly evoking life with these playful animals in this natural paradise. Two further volumes followed bringing the story full circle telling of the difficult last years and the final abandonment of the settlement. Gavin Maxwell is widely credited with saving the otter as a species in the UK and their subsequent conservation and protection. Scarce in these first impressions. Three heavy hardbacks, extra postage will be required. Illustrations by the author, Peter Scott, Michael Ayrton, Robin McEwen, James Millar Watt et al (illustrateur). …
