Hardcover. Etat : As New. Leichte Kratzer / Abnutzungen / Druckstellen. By way of a day job, Guido Mocafico takes pictures for Wallpaper, The Face and French and American Vogue. For years he's also been photographing creepy-crawlies, including spiders, snakes and jellyfish. What animal has inspired as much dread, as many legends, as much revulsion and terror as the snake? Among the 2,700 known species, few are dangerous, let alone lethal, to humans, but prejudices run deep. Cobras, mambas, vipers and their cousins swing languidly from Amazonian canopies, hibernate through harsh Arctic winters, and eat entire cows in one gulp; humans quiver in their boots. Even as some species face the possibility of extinction before we fully understand them, new ones are still being discovered. Mocafico's explorations of their aesthetic properties bring out the singular power and beauty--and ability to unnerve--of the animal that human societies have called demon, divinity, sacred protector and ancestor.…

Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. In 1999, pioneering fashion editor and stylist Babeth Djian founded Numero, the now famous Paris magazine with an unmistakable aesthetic that boldly combines fashion, contemporary art, music and design. Guido Mocafico has photographed provocative still-lifes for Numero since its first issue, and this comprehensive three-volume publication contains all this work to date. Every month Babeth gives Mocafico carte blanche for the closing pages of Numero, a rare privilege in today's advertising-driven fashion magazines. In response he creates radical still-lifes (of objects including perfume bottles, shoes, watches and jewelry) that incorporate the genres of architecture, landscape and nude photography, and make comparable work in other magazines look like uninspired product shots. The experimental forum offered to Mocafico by Numero facilitates his maverick, sometimes critical view of contemporary vanity, and has given birth to some of his larger influential series including "Medusa," "Movement," "Serpens" and "Stilleven." In 1999, pioneering fashion editor and stylist Babeth Djian founded Numero, the now famous Paris magazine with an unmistakable aesthetic that boldly combines fashion, contemporary art, music and design. Paperback. Etat : New. In 1999, Babeth Djian - fashion editor and avant-gardestylist - founded Numéro, a Parisian magazine now famous for itsunique and bold aesthetic combining fashion and contemporaryart. From the first issue, then very regularly, Babeth gives GuidoMocafico carte blanche for the closing pages of the magazine. Free and suffering no diktat, the photographer takes the opportunityto create immutable and provocative still lifes the major genresin photography such as architecture, landscape, or nude. This platform, a place of innovation and experimentation, allows him togive free rein to his imagination, to offer an offbeat, critical lookat our contemporary world made of vanity. In 2016, the box set Mocafico / Numéro gathered all theseries from 1999 to 2016 in 6 volumes. Here is volume 7. Italian still life photographer Guido Mocafico was bornin Switzerland; he currently divides his time between his homein Switzerland and his studio in Paris. Subject topics are varied and copious: in architecture, with hisseries Brasilia/Beirut; Medusa, jellyfish; Serpens, snakes; Aranea, spiders; Guns and Roses; Movement, fine watches; Nature Morte, banquets and floral arrangements, an interpretation of Dutch StillLife, and most recently Blaschka - glass models, by the father andson duo Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka. His work has been exhibitedinternationally since 1999, including venues in London, Paris,Munich and Tokyo. Various books have been published comprisinghis personal projects: Venenum (2005), Medusa (2006); Serpens(2007); Movement (2008) and Stilleven (2012), published by Steidl.…
