Ajouter au panierSoftcover. Etat : Fine. First edition. Quarto. Single bifolium with a single-sheet-insert making six pages. Fine. For voice and piano. Plate imprint, "S - 1359 - 4." *Sweet Bye and Bye* is a musical from 1946 with book by S. J. Perelman and Al Hirschfeld. Writing for *Playbill*, Mervyn Rothstein describes the musical as a "sci-fi flop" but maintains that the score is "worthy but forgotten." The production faced a myriad of challenges ranging from the comical to the tragic, and shut down before ever making it to Broadway. The score was rescued from a warehouse in New Jersey by Tommy Krasker in 1986, Krasker fell in love with the music and years later managed to produce a recording with arrangements by Jason Carr. In an interview for *NPR* Krasker said of the score, "I really do consider this maybe one of the top 10 scores written in the '40s, and that's a powerful decade that included, obviously, 'Carousel' and 'South Pacific,' 'Brigadoon,' 'St. Louis Woman,' 'Finian's Rainbow.' But I really do feel this score is up there with those. It just never had a chance to be heard." An interesting piece of musical theater history. *OCLC* locates two holdings.

Ajouter au panierSoftcover. Etat : Very Good. First edition. Quarto. Single bifolium with a single sheet insert making six pages. Owner name and price sticker on the front cover, light bumping to the corners, and light foxing to the back cover, still a very good and complete copy. For voice and piano. Plate imprint, "S 112 - 4." The back cover features five short samples of songs from the musical comedy *The Pajama Game* by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. *The Littlest Revue* was producer Ben Bagley's first big project after the success of his *Shoestring Revue*. It premiered Off-Broadway at the Phoenix Theatre in 1956 and ran for 32 performances. Other than a CD reissue of the original cast recording put out by Kritzland in 2020, this musical seems to have been largely forgotten. *OCLC* locates three holdings.
