Fort Sill was located in southwestern Oklahoma in the heart of the old Kiowa-Comanche Indian country. From 1833 until 1875 the fort was in constant conflict with the marauding Indians.… The U. S. Army, militia of Kansas, Texas Rangers, and white pioneers and traders on the one hand were arrayed against the fierce and heroic bands of the Kiowas, Comanches, Arapahoes, and Kiowa-Apaches on the other. During this time period the fort was involved in frequent campaigns against hostile Indians from Kansas to Mexico. Bookplate of Everett Harold Hugo (completely hidden by the front dust jacket flap). A review copy with review slip laid-in. A fine, bright copy. The scarce dust jacket shows some light rubbing to fore-edge, some very slight sunning to spine, and a small chip to top edge of front cover. An exceptionally nice copy.
