Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. First Edition. First edition, 1981. IN NORWEGIAN. SIGNED presentation copy to Wallace Knutsen of the 99th Batallion, the Norwegian-American Para-Ski Troops, 99th Infantry Battalion -- from whom we bought the book. Black and white photos, maps, documents throughout. Map endpapers. . An unique story, told by the soldiers themselves, of the WWII Norwegian-American Resistance Ski Patrol. unique group of American soldiers from World War II who had in common that they were all of Norwegian descent. To be able to sign up for this battalion, it was a condition that they should understand / speak / write Norwegian. They were a separate battalion, and they never got to know what tasks were intended for them. They received the hardest command training ever given in the winter, in a camp in Colorado at an altitude of 3,000 meters. They landed on the continent with the American invasion forces and fought in some of the hardest battles of the war. They were taken out to be honorary guards for King Haakon when he returned home and they were in Norway on the forest summer of peace while the Germans were disarmed and sent home. They used up their leave to travel around and look for their relatives. The book about Battalion 99 is told by the soldiers themselves. Otherwise, it is based on original research and collection of material in a hitherto unknown area of ??Norwegian / American history. Signed by Author.
