Original full leather; top 5.5cm and bottom 4cm of spine leather lacking; spine's two black title compartments intact with gilt lettering a tad rubbed but still fairly bright; front joint splitting but board still fairly firm; rear joint cracked with board somewhat tenuously attached; all board corners worn; moderate scuffing to front board with small loss of surface leather at top right corner and mild moisture stain along right edge; rear board lacks several long strips of surface leather leaving underlying cardstock exposed. Faded marbling to edges; marbled endpapers. Pencil ownership inscription on front flyleaf recto with pencil note on opposing ffep verso; lacks rear free endpaper. Mostly mild but occasional moderate foxing upon interior leaves; mild moisture stains as well. Uncommon mid-19th century Xenia, Ohio imprint. OCLC cites seven copies among member libraries with the online edition of the Morgan Bibliography of Ohio Imprints, 1796-1850 citing an additional four copies at other institutions. Should be re-cased but still an apparently scarce edition.
