Paris, May 25, 1966: An Autograph Letter Signed (ALS) from French World War I Ace Pierre de Cazenove, Count de Pradines (8 Air Victories), to American collector Richard Calow. 10 5/8" x 8 1/4", centerfolded horizontally and vertically, otherwise quite Near Fine. See scans. Translation: " .Without detracting from the merits of the most celebrated fighter pilots on both sides, it can be said that luck was a major factor (in their victories) whereas others, perhaps equally or even more skillful, met up with bad luck. There is no reason to assert the superiority of fighter pilots to pilots on bombing, observation, or major reconnaissance missions. The latter (reconnaissance pilots) took risks alone, without an escort, far behind enemy lines, and as my own experience shows, their teams owed the success of their mission most of the time only to their exceptional quality as pilots, navigators, or shooters." A very scarce signature, with or without a full ALS, as here. Please see scans. LMillit.
