Paperback. Etat : Very Good. Bethsheba A. RemQueen Sheba is the author of her first poetry and short story collection From Foster Care to Fame. A bi-racial child, adopted by an all white family in Detroit city, proper; succeeding three foster homes. One was said to have been sexually abusive but no one knows because no one told. After a dynamic, traumatic and debilitating 13 years with her adopted family, Sheba was sent to a closed facility and strict youth home for the last two years of her high school career. Running away and insubordination only added to the list of her predicaments. Finally, at the age of 17 her adoptive parents gave up their rights and Sheba was made a ward of the court - left to create her own path out of the rubble. After her first born and graduating from college, she could be found traipsing the earth without a string to hold her down - Bethsheba found her revelation of things to come on the stage. Her poetic memoir is a celebration of survival, and demonstrates the omnipotence and capacity of a young woman's heart. And of regret and forgiveness. Reading these empowering short stories will have you laughing while holding a tissue box. A page turner; Sheba's poems find power her vulnerable and unapologetic details of her life. Poems save lives and Bethsheba has been called around the world, to tell her wryly witty and complex portrait of a post-black, hip-hop, pro-fem champion of off-beat outcaste everywhere. Her work is a hybrid: part-narrative, part spoken word on page. Bethsheba vacillates between glee and pain--love and anger--her contradiction is her strength. Her poems are bullets that pierce vessels. In Long Story Short From Foster Care to Fame Bethsheba offers no buffers. No filters. No edits. She graces the page with her most raw, authentic, and uninhibited honesties, stories, and realities. She embraces a style of ancient epic poetry: extended in its storytelling - full, expansive, and vast. No moments are left unnoticed. No details are left untouched. Bethsheba has used her pen, her voice, and her words to usher us towards a glimpse of her individuality. What a triumph - no morsel of her body silenced in her telling of her journey. If only we could all be so brave - no matter what our own truths. Be forever disarmed.…
