An excellent copy of this scarce work on Turkey, Armenia and Kurdistan. A versatile and hardy traveller, Tozer (1829-1916) made regular journeys in Greece and Turkey. This was his most far reaching book, travelling through Armenia and Turkey to gaze upon Mount Ararat, which he calls 'the roof of Western Asia', and around Lake Van into Northern Kurdistan. He writes touchingly of the land and peoples he encounters, and with a deep appreciation for the history and culture of the region.
