This is the issue immediately prior to the…1968 Chicago Democratic Convention with the prophetic headline: "If you're going to Chicago, be sure to wear some armor in your hair." Articles include Eldridge Cleaver choosing Jerry Rubin as his vice presidential candidate on the Peace & Freedom Party ticket, report on Huey Newton's trial, an interview with Peter Townsend of the Who about their Tommy album, Rick Griffin drawing near plug for a Zap Comix exhibit. Back cover is a hand-drawn and lettered astrological analysis for the week of Aug. 21-27 entitled "the gigantic tent of Hermes Trismegistius" by the Berkeley Astrology Guild.

Usual array of news items spotlighting political struggles, with two items of special interest: centerspread reprint of Robin Morgan's feminist call to arms "Goodbye to all that," and half page article defending the bombing of the Park Station of the SFPD, subsequently blamed on the Weathermen. Also has report by Stew Albert on the Chicago 8 conspiracy trial and hoopla.

Cover features nude group photo of the Tribe staff raising clenche…d fists and displaying much body hair and perkiness, articles on People's Park rioting, anti-Barb diatribes, schedule of BPP-sponsored United Front Against Fascism Conference, full page message from Eldridge Cleaver from Algiers, and the usual assortment of news and local ads. This is likely the first issue of the paper under the Berkeley Tribe name, as the preceding issue was called The Barb on Strike.
