No page tears or writing marks. Boards are gray. Front board has blue stripes with gray lettering and embossed print of a locomotive and coal car. Illustrations by Otto Kuhler throughout. Very good overall condition and clean reader.

Cover has wear, soiling, tears, chips, and ink marks. Colonel Robert Selph Henry (October 20, 1889 - August 19, 1970) was an American lawyer, railroad executive and historian. Henry started his career as a journalist in Nashville from 1907 to 1913. He was a secretary to Tennessee Governor Ben W. Hooper from 1913 to 1915. He practiced the law in Nashville from 1915 to 1921. He was an executive of the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway from 1921 to 1934, and the Vice President of the Association of American Railroads from 1934 to 1958. He was the author of several books about the history of the Southern United States, including the American Civil War and the Mexican-American War, as well as railroads. He was the 1957 president of the Southern Historical Association. Henry was Vice President of the Association of American Railroads from 1934 to 1958. Otto August Kuhler (July 31, 1894 - August 5, 1977) was an American designer, one of the best known industrial designers of the American railroads. According to Trains magazine he streamstyled more locomotives and railroad cars than Cret, Dreyfuss and Loewy combined. His extensive concepts for the modernization of the American railroads have repercussions onto the railways worldwide until today. In addition he was a prolific artist of industrial aesthetics and of the American West in general. Kuhler (pronounced "Cooler") became a US citizen in 1928.
