(2 gravures d'époque du château de Creully et enrichi de 10 photos plus récentes ont été insérées, portant sur l'intérieur et l'extérieur du château), exemplaire bien relié, dos à 5 faux-nerfs, bon état. Cette étude sur le barons de Creully est bien complète. Elle faisait partie d'un volume comportant une autre étude qui la précédait, d'où sa pagination. L'auteur était président du tribunal civil de Bayeux, président de la Société Académique. Creully fut l'une des premières baronnies du royaume. Devenue importante, elle contrôlait plus de quarante fiefs, au XIVe siècle. Haimon, le premier des barons, était l'un des plus puissants seigneurs de la région. L'auteur évoque les personnages importants, tel l'illustre Guillaume de Vierville, chambellan du roi vers 1400. Il décrit la région envahie par les troupes d'Édouard III d'Angleterre, en 1346. Il fait revivre les sites et les monuments, comme le manoir de Vaux-sur-Seulles fortifié en 1345, ou encore le château de Creully restauré au cours du XIVe siècle. Il dépeint la contrée pendant la montée du protestantisme, et relate l'occupation du château de Neuilly par les ligueurs, en 1585. Sont retracés les derniers épisodes de l'histoire seigneuriale, les faits qui marquèrent la fin de l'Ancien Régime : l'exil des derniers seigneurs, la mise en vente des terres du comté.
