Two contributions to Second Memoire Sur La Marine of the Memoires des Litterature et Beaux Arts, published by L'Academie des Inscriptions et Belle-lettres in Paris. Undated, but appears to have been 1842 originally and then reprinted here. One contribution is about nautical history, the other, German letters and engravings. Julien-David Le Roy or Leroy (1724 - 1803) was an influential 18th-century French architect, historian and archaeologist. Measures 7 3/4" x 10" in width and height, respectively. This publication began in 1710- and ran until 1843. 141-169 pp., disbound from a larger volume, hand-sewn, complete, with slightly waffly text, rag paper is lightly foxed here and there, else clean and unmarked, bound back to back with a contribution translated from German into French by A.G. Camus, pp. 170-210, and with three large engraved plates in German, two being multi-panel, in fold-out, in large Medieval German letters, quite fine. A Wikipedia article about Armand-Gaston Camus (2 April 1740 ? 2 November 1804) notes that he was a French revolutionist, successful lawyer and advocate prior to the French Revolution and eventual archivist at the Archives Nationales, contributing many works of history and literature.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
