Blue binding, book has a backward lean, slight surface-wear/small marks to front & spine, gilt titles to front & spine, title-page REMOVED, frontispiece is coming loose as a result, Volume number partly removed so that it looks like Vol I but is not. Wear with rubbing & small creases to spine-ends, some rubbing to corners which are a little knocked under. Slight paper-cracks to inner hinges, light foxing to end-papers. Excellent b/w photos of the period - volume looks about 1930, & a colour 'pop-up' illustration of a car & its conponents in nine small layers with the pop-ups printed to both sides. Text is very clean & in nice condition.

There is very minor shelf-wear to the extremities of the cover, the corners are lightly bruised. The front hinge is beginning to crack but the binding is still firm. There is tanning to the end papers. There is light foxing to the end papers, half title and title pages and pop-out illustration. There is light tanning to the extremities of pages and very occasional spots of foxing. There is a tear across one crease of the pop-out illustration. First edition, ND, but late 1920s with publisher's correction slip attached to page 354 mentioning the 1929 Austin Seven. Five volumes in fairly uniform condition with previous owner's neat ex-libris stickers on front pastedowns. Maroon buckram with gilt and numerous b/w illustrations. Vols II, III, IV and V have coloured fold-out, cutaway diagrams at rear, 1866pp in total, inc index in Vol V. Vols have just light shelfwear and bumping to extrems, but are internally very clean and tight. Fold-out, cutaway of six-cylider Mercedes in Vol V has light damage but is complete. No DJs.
