Program for a sci-fi comedy, A Visit to a Small Planet, presented by the Sacramento Civic Repertory Theater at the Eaglet Theater. A Visit to a Small Planet was written by Gore Vidal (1925-2012), an American playwright, and first appeared as a televised play. Vidal later adapted the television production into a play on Broadway. The story is about a human-loving alien named Kreton from the planet, X-47, who insists on visiting Earth and interacting with people against his teacher's wishes. Comedic mishaps ensue.

Time Limit, a thriller and legal drama, was written by Henry Denker and Ralph Berkey. The play was based on the real-life experiences of General William Dean when he was imprisoned at a North Korean POW camp during the Korean War. Denker is cited as having been inspired to adapt Dean's story into a stage production after seeing a TV interview in which Dean recounted being brainwashed and tortured by his captors.

The Cherry Orchard was the last play by Anton Chekhov (1860-1904), a Russian playwright and short-story writer. The play is about the abolition of serfdom in the years leading up to the October Revolution in Russia. Chekhov intended the play to be a comedy, but when it was first produced in 1904 by Konstantin Stanislavski, the latter presented the play as a tragedy.
