Short stories on racial themes by Carl Shears, aka "Saggittarus," author and proprietor of the Nuclassics & Science Publishing Co., one of the more adventurous afrocentric publishers of the Seventies. This… one of the scarcer productions of the press.

The novel is set in the near future prefaced with a short manifesto of what is ailing the United States, or a country "held together by tissue paper!" The vision of America's fut…ure is laid out by the coming to power of a black dictator through uprisings and an eventual second civil war culminating in General Hambone's coup d'eta, "Only Hambone could save the nation. Democracy was dying a slow death." "Photograph of Hambone after his promotion from captain to brigadier general at a secret meeting of congress" on lower cover and cover art by Liani. Scarce title. Good condition, wraps fairly soiled and edgeworn, light soiling to text block edges, with all faults a strong copy. Signature-bound octavo (5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches) in photo-illustrated wraps, [iv] ii [iv] iv [ii] 198 pp.
