Clark, pasted his label over the publisher's name so he could sell the books directly. The original binding has some chips and holes around the spine area, spine ends are also chipped with the lower tail completely missing. Corners also show wear, particularly on the lower outside. The internal binding is good, with the text pages being tight. The front end page contains the original owners name and info written in pencil (J. Thompson Frissell, Worcester Mass. April 7, 1873) and there is what appears to be a rust spots in the gutter just to the left of the name. There is scattered foxing and smudge marks, although nothing too prevalent. The worst of the spotting appears to be on both end pages and pastedowns.
