Binding tight and solid. If you want to write an autobiography that puts you in the best possible light, but you happen to have worked for one of the most reviled mass murderers of the 20th Century, you certainly have your work cut out for you. By being selective in what stories he tells and how he tells them, Walter Schellenberg manages to accomplish this. Sort of. There is no escaping the fact that as the head of the Nazi Secret Service Schellenberg was one of the bad guys. Still, what he reveals about the inner workings of the Nazi spy organization is fascinating. If the reader has studied the era from unbiased (or less biased) sources the information revealed really adds perspective to one of the most criminal governments in recent history. Schellenberg devotes the majority of the book to telling specific stories of Nazi espionage which I found exceptionally interesting. There is nothing like hearing history from the people who made it, even if they may have cleaned it up a bit in their own best interests. Well worth the read. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
