Cream cloth spine over green paper-covered boards, spine titled in gilt. Slight browning, corners slightly bumped, 1cm hole to rear of dust-wrapper else good-plus. "The Compleat Schwiebert is a journey of discovery along America's premier trout streams in twenty-eight tales of unparalleled adventure and learning. This major new collection is a superlative compendium of trout lore from the Catskills to the Cascades, in the U.S. and abroad, from a man whose career has revolutionized American trout fishing. The three carefully selected sections of this treasury are virtually books unto themselves. 'Great Waters' shares a lifetime of experience and exploration on our most famous trout haunts, bringing new tactics to legendary brooks, streams, and rivers that will improve your angling abilities no matter where you go. 'A Hatch to Match' offers much new information on imitating insects upon which trout feed, often the key to catching difficult and highly selective fish. Schwiebert pioneered this most valuable concept in trout fishing, and more than forty years of his research are reflected in these pages. 'Edges and Eddies' mirrors the quiet spots in a river's currents, and, in this book, comprises a contemplative section where Schwiebert's incomparable literary style shines as bright as the riffles he fishes. Here you'll find the lure as well as the lore of trout fishing brought to life by a master of evocative detail. Every section of this book has been carefully chosen and annotated by Schwiebert's long-time editor and friend, John Merwin, himself a nationally recognized angling authority." .

Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. First Edition. Remainder mark bottom edge. In this anthology, a selection of his writings during that period, he offers advice on technique and tactics, a short course in aquatic entomology and other fishing lore. He introduces favorite trout streams from the Catskills to the North Umpqua in Oregon and tells how to "read" unfamiliar waters. There is a brief history of the introduction of brown trout to America, a comparison of the virtues of steelhead and Atlantic salmon. Schwiebert discourses on the seasons, on trout habitat, on bamboo rods. While all of this is meat and drink to flyfishermen (and -women), there is also plenty to attract non-anglers: superb descriptive writing, good company and the vicarious pleasure of flyfishing with the preeminent Schwiebert. Ernie Schwiebert was a pioneer in the fishery conservation movement and was involved in the founding of Trout Unlimited, Theodore Gordon Flyfishers and the Federation of Fly Fishers. He has served as a Director of both Theodore Gordon Flyfishers and the Atlantic Salmon Federation, and on the scientific advisory boards of TU, FFF and The Nature Conservancy. In recognition of his contributions, a Trout Unlimited Chapter in New Jersey is named for him. He was best known for his extensive writings about fly-fishing. Please see our other hunting, fishing, and natural history titles.
