The front board has a 1/2 in. stain. The front edge of the back board is missing a 1/8 in. and a 3/8 in. piece of cloth. The back FEP is missing and a third of the back pastedown is peeled away and missing. The text block ends have darkened. 6 pages in the back have a closed tear(s), 1/8 in. to 1 in. Very very rare and hard-to-find edition! Green cloth with black lettering on the front board and spine. 92 very clean unmarked and uncreased historical and poetic pages nicely enhanced by black and white illustrations! Extremely scarce! "Nothing has ever been written that appeals to a child's nature more than 'A Child's Garden of Verses.' It is written in a simple verse that a child can readily understand. It was one of the earlier efforts of the author, Robert Louis Stevenson, a Scotchman by birth, who, owing to ill-health, became a world traveler." ----- from the Introduction.
