Simone de Caillavet Maurois was the wife of André Maurois and daughter of the French writer and playwright Gaston Armam de Caillavet and granddaughter of Mme. Arman de Caillavet who was famous for her salon about which the French literary world circled and she was a close friend and influence on Anatole France. For Seymour Halpern, the post card with a small note tipped on reading "91 is 16 upside down." The quote is written in the lower margin under a clipped portrait of Maurois which has been laid down on cream board and then again on brown board (this last chipped), the postcard bears in blind imprint of Trude Geiringer Dora Horovitz in lower corner.
