A smart first edition of this introduction to three new British poets, edited by Scottish writer Edwin Muir. First edition. An introduction to three new British poets, none of whom had previously had a book published, although all had had poetry broadcast and printed in various periodicals. This volume contains the works of: Iain Crichton Smith, a Scottish poet and novelist, who wrote in both English and Gaelic, remembered for his deeply felt and vivid poetry. Karen Gershon, a German-born British writer and poet who escaped to Britain in December 1938. One of her best-known poems, "I was not there", describes her feelings of guilt at not being there when her parents were murdered by the Nazis. Christopher Levenson, a Canadian poet who has won both the Eric Gregory Award and the Archibald Lampman Award. Edited by Edwin Muir, a Scottish poet, novelist and translator. In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with light wear and fading to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is smart with light wear and the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Light sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light age toning to the endpapers. Near Fine. book.
