With lay out and alterations to the photographs marked in red pencil and a couple of instructions in another hand. Typed letter (unsigned) from Haining to Rollo Turner at Panther Publishing Ltd., 10, Lime Avenue, High Wycombe, Bucks HP11 1DP written on headed notepaper from Peyton House, Boxford, Sudbury, Sufolk CO10 5DZ dated 12 December 2006 and consisting of about 300 words in which he suggests republishing the book with more photographs and more information. He has gathered more details about the Wall of Death in the UK which he thinks will appeal to a wider audience. Typed signed letter from Rollo Turner in response to Haining's letter written on headed notepaper from Panther Publishing (address as above) to Haining's address dated 22 December 2006 and consisting of about 335 words in which he says he enjoyed reading the booklet about Tornado Smith and says it is the sort of thing he would be interested in taking on. However, he thinks Haining should be aware of a new book on the subject called 'Riding the Wall of Death' by Allan Ford and Nick Corble and suggests that a definitive study such as this would be hard to compete with. Haining's jottings in pencil at top of letter. Amazon print out of the new book with reviews attached to the letters. Several pages of rough notes in Haining's hand. Handwritten lists of Tornado book orders and pictures in an unknown hand. A4. pp. 11., ruled file paper. Other material includes two handwritten postcards from Richard Abrey who presented the Southend Classic Wall of Death Exhibition to Haining, two invitations to the Tornado Ball, Boxford, two pages of photocopies, one of the covers and another of an illustration from Haining's book, couple of photocopies of old photographs, one original newspaper cutting and numerous photocopies of newspaper articles (mostly in England although one is German) and a couple taken from magazines concerning the exploits of Tornado Smith and 'Marjorie Dare' and their pet lioness, including accounts of their various accidents. George William Smith otherwise known as Tornado Smith (1908-1971) was the son of the landlord of the White Hart public house in Boxford, Suffolk. He is credited by the British motorcycle industry for being the first Englishman to perform the highly dangerous Wall of Death in this country, having brought it from America in 1929. His two partners on the Wall of Death were his wife 'Marjorie Dare' and a twelve stone lioness called Briton. In 1966, he and his wife left for America, leaving behind debts. He was later declared bankrupt, but when he died he was found to be worth £100,000. Peter Haining (1940-2007) was a prolific writer and editor on subjects ranging from crime and horror to witchcraft and fantasy. He became Editorial Director of the New English Library publishing house. Very good. Very good.

These workshops bring together approximately eighteen experts in closed session for two days. The topic is determined by the Foundation but the direction that conversation takes is determined by the participants. There is no agenda. The workshops are taped, transcribed, edited, published in the present form and distributed to participants, interested parties, museums and libraries." -- Henry T. Hopkins, director.
