Hardback. Etat : Good. Dixie's story is about a fifteen-year-old runaway who is innocent prey for the devil's clutches. He wraps his slimy tentacles around her and pulls her into a hellish world of drug addiction. The devil's tentacles are long and far-reaching slithering into a home and ripping apart a once loving family. The Lord doesn't sit idly by and let the devil steal one of his innocent children. He guides Dixie to a crossroad where she has a choice to make; sin and drugs or the road less taken; salvation and recovery. I was born and lived in a small Colorado town with my dad, mom, older sister and two older brothers.Being the youngest, I spent most of my time at home with my mom and grandpa, Sam, who stayed at our house during the day. He played many musical instruments, but his favorite and mine was the banjo. It was from him I am told that I developed my love of music. In addition to music, I love to sing, read, act in community theater, write stories, and learn new things. From an early age, I wanted to be a teacher. My fifty- year teaching career began at the age of nineteen. My preferred teaching field was foreign Languages. My husband, Michael and I celebrated fifty years of marriage in 2022 before he passed away. We had no children, but several dogs throughout the years; all named Beauregarde because Mike couldn't remember their names. I now have Chotsy, and Ivy. My material for this story came from my teaching career. I witnessed students struggling with addiction or suffering with grief as a family fell into the drug pit.I hope this story inspires other young people to be strong and avoid addictive drugs.…

A Census Monograph Series re: The Population of the United States in the 1980's. For the National Committee for Research on the 1980 Census. "Native Americans are too few in number to swing presidential elections, affect national statistics, or attract consistent media attention. But their history illuminates our collective past and their current disadvantaged status reflects our problematic present. In [the book], C. Matthew Snipp provides an unrivaled chronicle of the position of American Indians and Alaskan Natives within the larger American society. Taking advantage of recent Census Bureau efforts to collect high-quality data for these groups, Snipp details the composition and characteristics of native Indian and Alaskan populations. His analyses of housing, family structure, language use and education, socio-economic status, migration and mortality are based largely on unpublished material not available in any other single source. He catalogs the remarkable diversity of a population - Eskimos, Aleuts, and numerous Indian tribes - once thought doomed to extinction but now making a dramatic comeback, exceeding one million for the first time in 300 years. Also striking is the pervasive influence of the federal bureaucracy on the social profile of American Indians, a profile similar at times to that of Third World populations in terms of literacy, income, and living conditions. Comparisons with black and white Americans throughout this study place its findings in perspective and confirm its stature as a benchmark volume. American Indians offers an unsurpassed overview of a minority group that is deeply embedded in American folklore, the first of this land historically but now among the last in its socioeconomic hierarchy.". …
