This is the story of Rose Daniels. Rosie flees her nightmare marriage to find refuge in a strange city. Far from her brutal husband, Norman, whose relentless savagery and mad obsessions follow to her sanctuary, and drive Rosie to transform to survive. Escaping from the macabre marriage is not as easy as fleeing to a new city, picking a new name, finding a new job, and lucking out with a new man. Not with a husband like Norman. After 14 years of being beaten, Rose wakes up one morning and leaves her husband. But, she keeps looking over her shoulder, because Norman has the instincts of a predator. And what is the strange piece of art that has Rose in a kind of spell? In this brilliant dark-hued tale of gender wars, SK fashions yet another thriller holding his readers out on the edge. 420 pages. Insured post. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Signed by Author. Each with a black and white frontispiece by Mark Geyer. A near fine set, the bindings firms, each volume very slightly rubbed at the corners and spine tips. The contents are clean and bright throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Stephen King's magical realism novel 'The Green Mile' was serialised in small chapbooks between March and August 1996, simultaneously in the UK and US, and published in one volume in May 1997. The serialised format appealed to King, who liked the idea of having a responsibility to finish the novel once the first instalment was published, and of the reader not being able to read ahead and spoil the suspense. It formed the basis for the 1999 Academy Award nominated film of the same name starring Tom Hanks. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request.
