Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. Jacket and illustrations by Stuart Tresilian (illustrateur). 1st Edition. First edition, first impression. Some edge wear and chipping to top and bottom of jacket and spine, some grubby fingerprints and overall time staining to largely pale green jacket and page fore edges, spine slightly browned, some backwards lean, corners rubbed, remains of old sticky label to top back jacket, not price clipped (21s), no inscriptions, internally clean and tight, overall a vg copy for its age. 262pp, illustrated. A sequel to Williams' earlier books 'Elephant Bill' and 'Bandoola'. This is the story of the Andaman trip referred to in both earlier books, where Colonel Williams (1897-1958), meets the fearless Spotted Deer in a jungle on the North Andaman, and the remarkable decision of the author to choose Tun Gyaw as his personal guide, even though he was serving a life sentence for having tried to murder him. Williams was a British expert on Burma, and was made a Lieutenant Colonel, mentioned in dispatches three times, and was awarded the OBE in 1945. Quite a scarce book.
