Printed on hand-made paper. Raised bands and gilt design on spine. Some rubbing to hinges, edges, and tips. Light, foxing to endpapers, fly leafs, copyright page. Paper clip rust stain on flyleaf. Paper clip had been holding a 3 X 5 card with a book description from the Stewart Kidd Department of Old and Rare Books in Cincinnati, OH. Interior pages are clean. 10 full page black and white engraved plates by Harry Clarke.

Top edge gilt, illustrated endpapers, many pages uncut. Dust jacket with little chips in the corners and shallow chipping to the spine ends, with a couple of light scuffs to the front cover and a circular paper sticker covering the original price on the spine. First of this edition published by John Lane, with illustrations by Harry Clarke. A particularly fresh copy.

Double-page endpaper designs by Clarke. Eight tissue-guarded full page and one double-page spread in highly detailed black and white by Clarke, possibly printed by photogravure. Light bumping to tips, else fine in crisp black dj with recent interior tape reinforcement to foot of spine and edges of jacket folds and a strip of matching black paepr glued to inside top edge of dj. No previous owner's marks.

A very good copy, the dust jacket with some light wear, a few small tears, and chips to the head of the spine panel. The front board and spine a little age toned. Ownership signature to front fly leaf, and top corner creased on that page. Very light spotting along the top edge, and occasionally to the text block. .
