It appears that new methods cannot be introduced without considerable and detracting resistance. Fortunately the need for better understanding of body mechanics is now becoming recognized. The subject still remains confusing however because of the tendency to ignore the influence of normal habits and the relationship between structure and function. It is in this respect that properly trained physiotherapists have an advantage over others in dealing with body movements. Proper training in the analysis of body movements and in physical analysis should from the essential background to physiotherapy training.
