Ernest Seton Thompson (1860-1946) was an English born author, artist and naturalist who was reared in Canada where he won a solid reputation for his books on animals and wildlife; deeply concerned with the future of the Prairie, Seton fought to establish reservations for Native Americans and parks for animals threatened with extinction. To provide children with the opportunities for nature study, he founded the Woodcraft Indians organization in 1902, and later was chairman of the committee that established the Boy Scouts of America. CONDITION : Ex-library book ("Negro Community Centre" red stamping on front end-page). Handwritten "Summerlea United S.S." on front end-paper. Binder small label on rear end-paper. Soiling to boards and spine. Else a bright and clean book.
