The front hinge is cracked and the upper board attached only by the leather binding but the binding is o/w tight. Ex-lib with usual stamps and marks. Some dark discol. to spine. At four of the corners the leather has been rubbed away altogether. Although the gilt titling is still vibrant the leather is worn and rubbed esp to the extremities. Plain ochre endpapers. 910pp with many pages struck through with blue pencil. Revised translation commissioned by Sir Alfred Milner.
