Fine- condition. No Dust Jacket. The Text Block is clean, soft white, tight, straight and square with maroon topstain, lightly tanned f…ore-edges, and no markings of any kind. The Binding is full khaki colored cloth, color unitform throughout, a fine scratch to the front board, with the title in large red letters to the front board, khaki title, etc., on an orange-red block to the spine, off-white endpapers unmarked but for a prior owner's name and date (1939) on the front free endpaper, and all corners square and sharp. No Jacket. xii, 561 pages, including Notes, Bibliography and Index, plus four unnumbered pages of full size color illustrations. 6 3/8" X 9 1/2". A thorough biography of the artist-inventor with numerous illustrations throughout. The author concludes, in part, "This was the grandest effort ever made by any man to explore and interpret the universe defeated by this man's mortality. His unique career, a lifetime devoted to research in every field of knowledge, ended without the publication even of fragments of his conclusions. Mankind was to have to discover afresh what he knew already, to explore afresh the paths he had trodden and mapped, to fall into his errors after he had recognized them, to struggle out of the traps he had evaded." This is a heavy book, weighing 1,061 grams / 37.3 ounces, and will require extra postage for international shipment. Translated from the German manuscript by E. W. Dickes.
