Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. Nice original 1899 copy of "Hartford in History: A Series of Papers by Resident Authors." The book is overall in very good condition with just some minor signs of wear and age. The covers only have some minor wear. The binding is good and sound. There is a name inscription to the front f…ep and a couple of pages or so with some minor penciled notation, underlining & bracketing. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of minor imperfection, such as a light bit of foxing or grubbiness, tiny chip, creased page corner, minor stain or marking, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy. The book measures approximately 7 1/4 inches by 5 5/8 inches and is 268 pages long with a folding map.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book spotlights the origins of the written American Constitution and its lasting impact. Beginning with the Pilgrims' journey to the New World, it narrates the challenges of establishing a stable government in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Despite disagreements and political turmoil,…the colonists of Hartford, Connecticut, led by the renowned Thomas Hooker, forged a unique framework for self-governance. The author delves into the historical context of the time, examining the influence of Puritan beliefs and English legal precedents on the development of the written Constitution. The book also sheds light on the significant role played by Hartford in preserving this vital document during the Revolutionary War.
