Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Book Club Edition. Illustrations, maps, notes, bibliography, index. 308 pp. This is Urwin's first book and like all good historians his thesis focused on a particular period - in this case, Custer's performance as one of the Union' youngest generals during the Civil W…ar. Urwin's examination of Custer as a general and a leader of men from 29 June 1863 until the surrender of Robert E. Lee in the spring of 1865. It was Custer's cavalry that inflicted the first defeat on the "legendary J. E. B. Stuart and his near-invincible Confederate cavalry." It is well done and a great read. The book is in near fine condition with minor rubbing to the tips of the spine and corners and a very good + DJ having minor chips to the tips of the spine and one corner. A much needed addition to the Custer story.
