In-16, reliure de l'époque demi-chagrin vert à coins ornée de filets dorés, dos à 5 nerfs, caissons ornés de motifs dorés, titre doré, tête dorée, 178 pp. Coins légèrement émoussés et frottés, tête du dos épidermé sur 0,5 cm, premiers mors interne fendillé, traces de mouillures en pied des 20 premières pages, intérieur uniformément jauni, un trou de 0,5 cm en coin de tête de la page de justification de tirage, sinon exemplaire en assez bon état d'un ouvrage peu courant. Réimpressions faites pour une société de bibliophile des éditions de 1640, chez Pierre Bailly, Lyon. L'un (80) des 100 exemplaires numérotés. Verboquet, comédien rouennais voulut publier un recueil de contes comme l'avait déjà fait le sieur Du Moulinet. La première partie, "Les Délices", contient 39 contes facétieux et quant aux "Subtiles rencontres", il s'agit d'un recueil de bons mots.

Verboquet is widely considered to be a pseudonym, as indeed are the names of his followers; regardless, they are all merely plagiarists, retelling and occasionally reworking comic tales originating from sixteenth century authors, in particular, Bonaventure Des Periers. John Fowles (1926-2005), English novelist, notable works include The Magus (1965) and The French Lieutenant's Woman (1969). Size: 12mo.
