True account of Seventh-day Adventist missionaries John and Olga Oss, who sailed for China in 1919. John headed the publishing work in Manchuria and later became editor in chief of the Chinese Signs of the Times in Shanghai, while Olga raised funds for a clinic for the city's poor. After Pearl Harbor the Japanese interned them at the Chapei Civilian Assembly Center outside Shanghai, where they spent thirty-one months; the book covers camp rations, Red Cross parcels, a wedding among the internees and the end of the war, then their return to Shanghai in 1947.
