Early if not 1st US edition, with 10 majestic chromolithographed plates. This edition omits the Fellow Travellers tale and thus has 2 fewer plates than the 1st Sampson & Low edition. How…ever the remaining 10 plates compare quite favorably and are striking in their color and composition. Scarce. 9.5'' x 7.25''. Original blue cloth spine, blue pictorial paper boards. Floral patterned endpapers. Illustrated with 10 full-page chromolithographs, including title page. 76 pages. Ink marginalia to rear fly leaf apparently creating an at-home "library" system of checking out the book. Some rubbing to boards, with unobstrusive touch-up to extremities. Marginal toning to leaves. Bright.
