Presents "Per Lui Edizione Speciale: USA by Bruce Weber". Subtitled "Album Photo Tour 1985: Andy Minsker/Hollywood/Las Vegas/Boxers". A leisurely tour of the photographer's passion, male beauty in all his aspects: His good looks, great body, extravagant talent, carefree lifestyle, and charismatic presence. The most handsome men ever photographed are framed with archival photographs from various collections. The Album is in five sequences: a) Prologue, "Inspiration", which includes photographs of the late great artist/photographer Peter Beard, actor Jean Marais, and jazz musician Chet Baker, interspersed with vintage photographs of Anna Magnani, Elizabeth Taylor, Alain Delon, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Terence Stamp, Jean Shrimpton, David Bailey, Glenn Gould, Natalie Wood, and Robert Wagner; b) "Hollywood", which re-creates the making of an imaginary Hollywood film of an epic, followed by portraits of real actors, actresses, and rock stars that include Kevin Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Chris Nash, Charlie Sheen, and members of the band U2; c) "Bacchanal: The Men of Las Vegas", a suite of gold-bathed photographs of models posing as gamblers and gigolos; d) "Boxers", a suite of black-and white photographs of Andy Minsker, Joey Roach, Johnny Apollo, and Brendan Kelly; and e) an untitled Epilogue, which shows a Bruce Weber collage: Circus entertainers Siegfried and Roy meet photographer Helmut Newton, writer Christopher Isherwood, artist Don Bachardy, and athlete Steel Saunders. This Per Lui Magazine Issue is the second most collectible of the many issues devoted to, not just featuring, Bruce Weber's work. It is surpassed only by the later Number 40 "Summer Diary 1986". For all intents and purposes, both Issues are full-fledged Bruce Weber books. An absolute "must-have" title for Bruce Weber collectors. This Issue is a photography classic. This is one of few copies still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare copy thus. Bruce Weber's "O Rio De Janeiro", the sexiest photography book ever published, was selected as one of the "Seminal Photography Books of the 20th Century" in the "Book of 101 Books". One of the finest photographers of our time. A fine collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER BRUCE WEBER TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). no.
