SYNOPSIS: Based on her wide experience of treating nervously ill patients, Dr. Weekes has developed a remarkable four-point program that has already helped millions of nervous sufferers to relax and enjoy life again. In this important new book, Dr. Weekes shows you how to win your battle with the "adrenalin-releasing" nerves once and for all. You will learn how to spot the four common types of nervous fatigue and reverse the energy-eroding pattern of tension and anxiety that leads to nervous illness. You'll also get Dr. Weekes's straightforward, encouraging and effective advice on overcoming physical symptoms; coping with phobias, obsessions, setbacks; and breaking the vicious cycle of fear that feeds on itself. Ultimately, she shows you how understanding nervous fatigue can become the first giant step toward recovery. In 1929, Dr. Claire Weekes became the first woman to obtain the degree of Doctor of Science at the University of Sydney. She graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Sydney in 1945, became a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1955, and was elected Fellow of the College in 1973. Following graduation, Dr. Weekes spent five years in general practice, was appointed Honorary Physician to the Rachel Forster Hospital in Sydney in 1956, and was named Consultant Physician in 1962--a position she holds today. Dr. Weekes is best known for her pioneering work in the study of nervous illness and anxiety. She has written two international bestsellers, Hope and Help for Your Nerves and Peace from Nervous Suffering, which together have sold more than 350,000 copies. She is also the author of Simple, Effective Treatment of Agoraphobia. In addition, Dr. Weekes has lectured at psychiatric hospitals in Britain and has spoken often on radio and television both in Britain and the United States. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
